Fethard Horse Country Experience is an interactive museum and visitor experience in Fethard, County Tipperary, based in the historic 17th-century Tholsel. Its main purpose is to tell the story of Fethard, its people, the surrounding Golden Vale and the horse, showing how all three have been connected throughout the area's history.
It also acts as a starting point for exploring Tipperary's wider Horse Country. Visitors can book curated packages that combine Fethard Horse Country Experience with experiences such as Coolmore Stud, the Rock of Cashel, local dining and other heritage attractions. These range from Stories & Stallions to full-day cultural and equine experiences.
FHCE also caters for schools, pony clubs, riding schools, active retired groups and organised tours, with dedicated educational and group programmes.

School visits include a guided tour with the Coolmore or Cashel Palace team, fun activities and competitions, plus a “Coolmore for Kids” booklet to take home.
The Myths, The History & The Landscape
Tales of warriors, heroes and legends are written on the landscape in the many ancient sites found throughout the region. Far in the past but far from forgotten, the folktales, from the fairies to the famed Fionn Mac Cumhaill, have been passed down through generations and live on to this day.

Warriors on horseback dashing into battle were celebrated as heroes but we mustn’t forget the strength and bravery of their trusty steeds. The horse is a majestic animal that has filled many roles throughout history. From pulling ploughs to pulling carriages, from warhouse to the mount of the modern Garda, carrying jockeys over jumps or racing along the flat, the horse is central to our story.ay.
